James A. Odegaard, 55, Wyndmere, ND passed away on November 18, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 24, at 1:00 PM at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere, ND with Rev. Bob Caranicas officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be at a later date at Gol-Aal Cemetery, rural Wyndmere. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. James Allen Odegaard, the son of Gerald and Harriet (Ostern) Odegaard, was born on June 15, 1957 in Moorhead, MN. He grew up in Garborg Township near Wyndmere, ND and attended school in Wyndmere graduating in 1975. After graduating he worked on the family farm and then farmed on his own. Around the year 2000, Jim began working as a crane operator for Capital Towers which builds cell phone towers around the country. On January 6, 2002, Jim was united in marriage to Paula Karvjian in Merritt Island, Florida. In 2003, they moved back to North Dakota and lived on the family farm. He became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers in 2006. Jim enjoyed anything having to do with the outdoors including, hunting, fishing, boating, camping and gardening. He was also a good cook and a loved to work in his machine shop working on tractors and built his own bushwhacker mower. Jim is survived by his wife, Paula, rural Wyndmere, ND; his step-sons, Alexander and Gary Civitate, Merritt Island, FL; his mother, Harriet Odegaard, Fargo, ND; his brother, Daniel (Jenny) Odegaard, Flandreau, SD; his niece, Chelsey Odegaard, and many cousins. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Odegaard.
